Alan Merida age 46, of Gray, was born on July 12, 1967 in Knox County, Kentucky. He was a son of Sallie Owens Farmer Merida and the late Delmer Merida. Alan died at his home, Wednesday December 11, 2013. He attended the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. On September 12, 1998, he united in marriage to Julie McCloskey.

Alan is survived by his wife, Julie Merida of Barbourville; his mother, Sallie Owens Farmer Merida of Gray; daughters; Amber Merida Mills and husband, Lee of Corbin; Aleshia Merida Gross of Corbin; Sydney Merida and India Sheckles both of Barbourville; grandchildren; Alyssa Nicole Hamilton, Alexavier Colton Gross and baby, Kaydence on the way. his sisters; Barbara Turner of Gray; Leda Gray of Dewitt; brothers; Don Farmer and wife, Sandy of Gray; Johnny Farmer and wife, Jo Carol of Barbourville; Burgess Farmer and wife, Paulette of Gray; dear Aunt, Jessie Meadows of Dayton, Ohio; and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services for Alan Merida will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Paul Cooper and Rev. Garrett Garland officiating. Burial will follow in the Owens Cemetery at Gray with Nephews and Nephews-in-law serving as pallbearers. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Saturday after 12:00 noon until the service hour at 2:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
