Obituary

Angela Marie Abner Smith, age 40 of Girdler, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. She was a daughter of Denver and Odie Smith Abner, born to them on August 22, 1975 in Knox County. Angela was a carrier for the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Woodbine Baptist Church. On July 18, 1992, she united in marriage to Rev. Dexter Smith Jr. and to this union three daughters were born. Along with her mother, Odie Smith Abner, she was preceded in death by two nephews: Ethan and Peyton Hoskins; her grandparents: Abe and Hazel Smith and Floyd and Maudie Abner: her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dexter Smith Sr. and Gracie Mills Smith. She was also preceded in death by two sisters-in-law; Betty Smith Grubb and Kathleen Smith.

Angela is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Dexter Smith Jr. of Girdler: Three Daughters: Whitney Nicole Jones and husband Jesse Ryan of Cannon, Katelin Jordan Smith and Bethany Leanne Smith both of Girdler: Two grandchildren: Baylee Grace Jones and Anslee Skilyr Jones: Her dear father, Denver Abner of Woollum: Two sisters: Crystal Hoskins and husband Stacey of Woollum and April Honeycutt and husband Steven of Barbourville: One brother; David Abner and wife Roxanne of Heidrick: Her sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Bertha Rose and husband Darrell of Girdler: and a brother-in-law, Ray Dean Grubb also of Girdler. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends left behind to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Angela Marie Abner Smith, will be conducted on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Locust Grove Baptist Church in Girdler, at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Scott Hammons, Rev. David Barnard and Rev. Jimmy Siler officiating. Burial will follow in the Nan Riley Cemetery at Woollum with Aaron Dean Grubb, Matthew Dalton Rose, Jesse Ryan Jones, Pascal James Crawford, Kameron Rose, Larken Abner and Jeremy Mills serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Angela's church family and all of her family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Locust Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, January 2, 2016 after 6:00 P.M and on Sunday, after 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at 2:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association: PO Box 21903, Lexington, Kentucky 40522, in loving memory of Angela.
