Axie Mills, age 84, of the Cranes Nest Community of Barbourville, died Monday, November 27, 2017 at her home. She was a daughter of the late John Will Mills and Nannie (Mills) Mills, born to them on November 12, 1933 at Roadfork in Knox County.

Mrs. Mills had worked for Warner's of Barbourville for over 25 years, a Member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, and was a well known Knox County Homemaker.

On December 24, 1953, she united in marriage to Rev. Mark Lee Mills, and to this union six children: Erma, Audrey, Zelma, Preston, Zandall and Annette were born.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Arnold Mills and wife, Marthie, Amos Mills and wife, Maudie, Ralph Mills and wife, Ruth, Carl Mills and wife, Irene, H.T. Mills, Sallie Broughton and husband, Lester, Susie Mills and Evie Hensley.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her loving husband of over 64 years: Rev. Mark Lee Mills of Cranes Nest.
Her six children: Erma Hubbs and husband, Jake of Rockhold, Audrey Abner and husband, Wayne of Cranes Nest, Zelma Evans and husband, Eddie of Columbia, Tennessee, Preston Mills and wife, Peggy of Cranes Nest, Zandall Mills and wife, Jayne of Big Richland, and Annette Broughton and husband, Randy of Cannon.
Her ten grandchildren: Karen, Steven, Brandi, Preston Lee, Amy Jo, Leona, Felicia, Jerry, Miranda and Dawson; and her seventeen great grandchildren.
Her sister, Lizzie Mills and husband, Russell of HWY #229, and her sister-in-law, Betty Sue Mills of Corbin; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and dear friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Axie Mills will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 30, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bargo, Rev. Herman Mills, and Rev. Ricky Broughton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Those serving as Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Nephews of Mrs. Mills.

Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Knox County Home Health, Nurse Practitioner April Dempsey, and Dr. Chaudry and Staff.

The Mills family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, and on Thursday after 9:00 A.M. and until the funeral hour of 11:00 A.M.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
