Barbara Mae Williamson, age 82, of Barbourville, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a daughter of the late Dave and Sarah Prichard Spivey, born to them on November 21, 1935 at Mackey Bend.
She retired from Knox County Hospital after working twenty-five years as a medical records transcriptionist. She enjoyed church and outdoor activities including gardening and bird watching. She was especially fond of their chocolate lab named Ben. She was a member of the Dewitt Baptist Church.
On August 3, 2017, She and Don celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary.
On August 3, 1955, she united in marriage to Don L. Williamson, and to this union a daughter Jean was born.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers: Herbert Spivey, Bob Spivey and Arthur "Tom" Spivey; and by a sister: Doris Spivey Jackson.
She is survived by her loving husband of over sixty-two years: Don L. Williamson, and her loving daughter: Jean Williamson Smith and husband Gary Smith of Barbourville.
Her two grandchildren: Scott Smith and Rodney Smith; and her four great grandchildren: Drew Smith, Jerod Smith, Paige Smith and Carly Smith.
Her two brothers: John Spivey and wife, Joyce of Barbourville; and Aubrey Spivey and wife, Patsy of Richmond, Kentucky.
Her sister: Mildred Hale of Indiana.
Her sister-in-law: Audrey Spivey of Russell Springs; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Barbara Mae Williamson will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 12, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jay Barnett and Dean Bingham officiating.
Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Jerry Gray, David Spivey, Scott Smith, Rodney Smith, Fred Hensley, Dean Bingham and Drew Smith.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be all Friends and Neighbors.
The Williamson family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, and on Friday after 10:00 A.M. and until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
