Obituary

Barbara "Bobbie" J. Walters Powell age 76, of Artemus passed away Friday October 27, 2017 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. She was the daughter of the late Troy and Eunice Hayes Walters born to them on November 5, 1940 in Harlan County, KY.

She was a self employed Babysitter for 40 Years. A member of the Artemus Christian Church where she was active in the women fellowship group and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #411.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children Mitchell M. Mitchum and also husband Wendell Powell. Her brother Jim Walters and sister in law Kat Walters.

She is survived by her daughters Jo Linda Russell and husband Richard of Artemus and Michele Mitchum Howard of Artemus, her sister Joann Graden and husband Jim of Artemus, her grandchildren Tyler McCarthy Miller of Lexington, KY, Christopher Troy Russell of Artemus, Adam Michael Russell of Artemus, Emily Jo Russell of Artemus and Will Howard of Harlan, her nephew Jimmy Walters and wife Beverly of Barbourville her niece Lisa Napier and husband Jeremy of Artemus. She is also survived by so many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong neighbors, friends and the many children she loved and cared for though the years.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday November 2, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Canter, Bro. Jake Copley and Bro. Derrick Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with Chad Ferguson, Lucius Willson, Doug Taylor, Darren West, Tommy Lockard and Jared Ferguson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are U.K. Trauma and ICU Doctors and Nurses, Daniel Boone Family Health Doctors and Nurses and the Artemus Christian Church.

The family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home Wednesday November 1, 2017 after 6:00 P.M. and on Thursday after 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

The family request contributions be made to the Artemus Christian Church or The St. Jude Children's Hospital which was a charity dear to her heart.
