Brutus Dwight Metcalf, age 62, of Flat Lick, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Barbourville ARH. He was a son of the late James (Jim) and Janice King Metcalfe, born to them on June 6, 1954 in Harlan, Kentucky.

Brutus was a retired Coal Miner; a Member of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church; a Member of the Harlan Masonic Lodge #879 F.& A.M., and the Mountain Masonic Lodge # 187 F.& A.M. of Barbourville; a Shriner and Member of the Oleika Shrine Temple of Lexington, Kentucky; and He helped create the 12th Man Booster Club at Knox Central High School.

On June 7, 1979, he united in marriage to Monette Hensley, and to this union two children: Stephanie Dawn and James Jonathan were born.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Michael Wayne Metcalfe; and a sister Barbara Metcalfe Kelly.

He is survived by his loving family: His wife of over 37 years: Monette Hensley Metcalf of Flat Lick.
His daughter: Stephanie Dawn Clark and husband, Randy of Barbourville.
His son: James Jonathan Metcalf and wife, Ashley of Flat Lick.
His grandchildren: Madison Dawn Metcalf-Clark, Tyrence Mitchell Clark, Levi Trent Metcalf, Jace Carter Metcalf, Rodgerick Gerrell Clark and Garrett Davone Clark.
His great grandchildren: Carley Shea Clark, Aubrey Skye Clark and Aidan Taysean Clark.
His sisters and brother: Linda Allen of Knoxville, Tennessee; Keith Metcalfe and wife, Jean of Avon, Indiana; Mary Estep of Totz, Kentucky; and Rebecca Ottinger and husband, Rick of Schrewsberry, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives, and dear friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Brutus Dwight Metcalf will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Mounce and Bro. Randy Clark officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ketchen Cemetery at Bryants Store.

Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Corey Estep, Garrett Clark, Nicholas Adams, Lucas Smith, Jeremy Hensley, Jeff Clark, Jonathan Metcalf, Dennis Gambrel, Gary Saunders and Lucas Broughton.

Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Madison Dawn Metcalf-Clark, Tyrence Mitchell Clark, Levi Trent Metcalf, Jace Carter Metcalf, Rodgenck Gerrell Clark, Garrett Davane Clark, Carley Shea Clark, Aubrey Skye Clark and Aidan Taysean Clark.

The Metcalf family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. on Friday at the Hopper Funeral Home, and on Saturday after 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

There will be a Masonic Service at 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Funeral Home.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
