Obituary

Carolyn "Peggy" Cox, age 57, of Barbourville and formerly of Kay Jay, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Buchanan Hickman, born to them on March 28, 1956 in Pardee, Virginia.

Carolyn "Peggy" Cox was a member of the Kay Jay Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed being at home and talking on the telephone and computer to her friends and neighbors.

On March 16, 1978 she united in marriage to Jess Cox.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; Edward and Dorothy Buchanan Hickman; her husband Jess Cox; her sisters Lora Hickman, Gladys Faye Marsee, Shirley Jo Turner and Iva Mae Miller; her brothers; J.B. Hickman, Nicholas Hickman, Ace Hickman and two infant brothers; five step children and two step grandchildren.

Carolyn "Peggy" Cox is survived by her sister, Mary Sims and husband, Beechie; her brother Charles Alvin Hickman and wife, Carmen all of Warren, Kentucky; A special niece and caregiver, Teresa Miller of Barbourville; and many other special nieces and nephews; a step daughter, Bonnie Blair of Tennessee; sister-in-law Captola Hickman of Warren; brother-in-laws, Rev. Jimmy Wayne Miller of Trosper and Alfred Marsee of Warren; a step daughter-in-law, Lynn McQueen of Bryants Store, eighteen step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and some great great step grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Carolyn "Peggy" Cox will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Jimmy Wayne Miller and Rev. Dale Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in the Lunsford Cemetery at Kay Jay. Those serving as Pallbearers will be David Messer, Michael Cox, Mark Cox, Jonah Messer, Kenny Atkinson, Al Sims, Dean Miller and Lee Vanover. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Vora and Staff, Knox County Home Health, and all friends and neighbors.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

The Cox family will recieve friends at the Hopper Funeral Home on Monday, July 08, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., and on Tuesday after 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
