Cecil Ervin Johnson age 57, of Barbourville, was born there on
May 7, 1957. He was a son of the late Ervin "Slick" Johnson and Sue
Tye Johnson. Cecil died at his home, Friday, June 27, 2014. He was
a School Bus Monitor for the Knox County School System. He was a Barbourville Fireman for over thirty-seven years and was a member of the Steel Workers Union. Cecil loved golfing and his golfing buddies
at the Indian Springs Country Club. On December 26, 1979, he united
in marriage to Karen "Kopie" Buchanan and to this union two
beloved daughters were born. Along with his parents, Cecil was
preceded in death by; His Sister, Kathy Sue Garland, his Maternal Grandparents, William Burnside Tye and Gerald "Granny" Tye; Uncle, John Tye; Aunts; Mary TyeHendricks and George Ann Tye.
He is survived by his daughters; Melanie Sue Jackson and husband, Todd of Barbourville; Amber Nicole Johnson of Girdler; a granddaughter; Abigail(Abby) Jackson; his dear and beloved Companion, Georgianna Jackson and daughter, Amanda Jackson of Barbourville; former wife, Kopie of Girdler; his four Brothers and Sisters; Mike Johnson of Barbourville; Pat (Johnson) Phipps and husband, Ron of Barbourville; Jackie (Johnson) Bargo and husband, Denny of Boone Height; Jerry Johnson and wife, Linda of Gray; A very special first cousin; Debbie Tye Gray and husband, Jimmy of Barbourville; his Uncles and Aunts; Bill Tye and wife, Arawana Tye of Mount Sterling, Ohio; Jean Tye Strong and husband, Jimmy of Barbourville; Jim Tye and wife, Wilma of Barbourville; Charlie Tye and wife, Debbie of Barbourville; Shirley Tye of Barbourville; and Doug Hendricks of Mills River, North Carolina; he also leaves many dear Nieces, Nephews and Cousins to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Cecil Ervin Johnson will be conducted in the
Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 1:00 pm with
Rev. Mickie Smith and Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Miles Cemetery at Swan Pond, with Winston Tye, Richard
Tye, Charles Tye, Eddie Lay, Mike Bunch, Bobby Parker, K.D. Parker
and Curtis Parker serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be
Lucas Grubb, Logan Grubb, Jacob Parker, Dakota Tye, all members of
the Barbourville Fire Department and Barbourville Police Department
and all Cecil's golfing buddies at the Indian Springs Country
Club. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral home Tuesday
after 6:00 pm and Wednesday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour
at 1:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
