Obituary

Mr. Cecil Liford, 81 of Hinkle, Kentucky, passed away Sunday evening, May 7, 2017, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Lawrence and Maggie Mooneyham Liford, born on August 17, 1935, in Knox County, Kentucky. On June 16, 1956, he united in marriage with Dolores Lyttle and to this union six beloved children were born. Cecil was a member of Scalf Chapel Church, Mountain Lodge #187 F&AM and Eastern Star Chapter #411. He was a avid UK fan and loved to fish and hunt. He read his Bible daily and accomplished reading it cover to cover annually for many years. In his early years, Cecil was employed as a Header Set-Up Man for the National Cole Forging in Detroit, Michigan. He moved to Louisville, Kentucky until his company relocated to Illinois, Upon returning to Knox County, he retired as co-owner of Liford Produce, Andy's Honda Shop and was a well known Knox County Farmer. He served in the National Guards for seven years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lenville Liford, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Howard Banks and Myrtis Grace Lyttle, honorary grandchildren, Cecil "Bo" Smith, Cathy Smith and his dear friend Jimmy Smith.


Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Dolores Liford of Hinkle, Kentucky, six children, Theresa Kay Shelton and husband, Kenneth of Union, Kentukcy, Sandra Gail Cox and husband, Donnie of Hinkle; Novella Ann Boehnke and husband, Paul of Crestwood, Kentucky; Amy Cecil Lynn Collins and husband, Dave of Barbourville, Tony Howard Liford and wife, Tressa of Hinkle and Keith Lawrence "Buster" Liford and wife, Tammy of Flat Lick and honorary children, Junior and Charlotte Smith of Bimble, Kentucky; grandchildren, Sara Herbstreit, Jeremy and Joseph Shelton, Nicole Merrill, Matthew Cox, Anthony and Joshua Liford, Megan Boehnke, Zachary Boehnke, Brooke Bingham, Zoey Liford, Cooper, Cayden and Cashton Collins and honorary Grandchild, Dee Wilson; great grandchildren, Brinley, Emme, Allie and Jackson Herbstreit, Noah Donaldson, Brayden and Hunter Shelton, Bryanna Gray, Haley Cox, Kyndal and Kylie Merrill, Tatum Cox, Emalyn Liford, Anne Margorie Hudey, honorary great grandchildren, Brittany Blackburn, Corey Gilmore, Emilyann Wilson and Madison Taylor; honorary great great grandchildren, Averi June and Ethan Blackburn, Sister, Loretta Liford Irwin and husband Jack of Hinkle; Brothers; Vernon Liford and wife Susan and Curtis Wayne Liford and wife, Debra all of Hinkle; and sister-in-law; Betty Liford of Panama City Beach, Florida; four nieces, seven nephews, three great nieces, ten great nephews, one great great niece, one aunt, Beatrice Mooneyham and a very special cousin; Wave Mooneyham, honorary children, Denny and Carla Jordan, along with numerous other cousins, loved ones and dear friends.

Funeral Services for Cecil Liford will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, May 12, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Keith Lawrence (Buster) Liford and Rev. Sylvester Dunn officiating. Mr. Liford will laid to rest at the Liford Cemetery at Hinkle. Casketbearers will be Mr. Liford's Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers
will be, the Mooneyham-Patterson Clan, Sons-in-law and special friends. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am Friday unitl the funeral hour at 1:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
