Obituary

Charles A. Johnson, age 86, of Louisville and Versailles, Kentucky, and formerly of Barbourville, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Heritage Hall in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

Charles was born on March 23, 1929 in Barbourville, Kentucky and was a son of the late Robert and Tilda Breeding Johnson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Johnson Warren, and by his loving daughter, Martha Ann Johnson Rankin on May 13, 2004.

Charles was a graduate of Knox Central High School Class of 1947. Raised to a Master Mason in 1950. He held dual memberships in the: Landmark Masonic Lodge #41 F. & A. M. in Versailles, Kentucky, and the Mountain Masonic Lodge #187 F. & A. M. of Barbourville. A 32 degree Scotish Rite, and a Shriner both of Louisville, Kentucky.
A veteran of the Kentucky Army National Guard 149th Infantry Company of Barbourville, and the 441st Field Artillery Company of Lexington, Kentucky.

Charles grew up at the local Dime Store R. E. Williams Company from 1944-1953.

He started a career in the Confectionery Industry, with Hershey, Peter Paul, Ludens, and retired as the Director of Sales & Marketing for JO-EL INC. in 1995.

Funeral Services for Charles A. Johnson will be conducted on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.

The Johnson family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, and until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to: National Kidney Foundation, 8920 Stone Green Way, Suite 100, Louisville, Kentucky 40220, in Memory of his loving daughter, Martha Ann.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
