Obituary

Charley Greene Dixon Jr. age 49, of Barbourville, was born there
on November 19, 1964. He was the son of Charles Dixon and Janice
Humfleet Dixon. Charley died at his home, Monday, June 23, 2014.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Barbourville. He was
a graduate of Knox Central High School, Union College where he
received his Bachelor of Science Degree, Secondary Education and English. In 1989, he received his Juris Doctorate at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University and was a member
of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Charley was an invaluable asset
to Barbourville and Knox County. He challenged, inspired and enriched
the lives of numerous individuals by dedicated and untiring
service to the community. His professionalism, intelligence,
work ethic, strong morals, enthusiasm, civic-mindedness and quest
for a better Knox County exemplify a representative that all
community leaders hold in high esteem. Charley started
his private practice of law in 1989 in Barbourville. He was the
Barbourville City Attorney from 1989-1992. In 2003 became
Knox County Attorney and Knox County Child Support Director. In
1991-1995 was the Knox County School Board and Barbourville City
School Board Attorney. Charley was a member of the American Bar
Association since 1989, Kentucky Bar Association since 1989, and
the Knox County Bar Association. He was a licensed Real Estate Broker since 1989. He was a member of the Knox County Juvenile Drug Court Team and Knox County Adult Drug Court Team. Charley was Council for Union National Bank since 1989, Ashland Finance from 1989-1996, Central Finance Service, from 1990-1998, Fidelity Credit Corporation since 1998, Knox County Ambulance Service, Knox County Health Department and the Knox County S.O.R.T. (Special Operations Response Team). His Civic and Community Organizations he was a member and was involved in, Lions Club since 1989, Mountain Masonic Lodge #187 since age 21, Tri-County Violence Prevention Board, Chamber of Commerce,
Renaissance on Main since inception in 2002, Fraternal Order of
Police, Oleika Temple Shriner since 1990, Knox County Drug Policy
Prevention Board Chairman, Knox County UNITE Chairman since inception
in May 2005. He was voted 2013 Man of the Year by the Knox County
Chamber of Commerce. On July 14, 1990, he united in marriage to Marcia
Michelle Smith and to this union a beloved daughter Callie Ann and
beloved son, Charleston Arthur were born. Charley and his wife, Marcia
are owners and operators of Lillian June, C&A Enterprises and Dixon
Rentals.

Charley is survived by his wife, Marcia Dixon of Barbourville; his
Daughter, Callie Ann Dixon and Son, Charleston Arthur Dixon of
Barbourville; his Parents, Charles and Janice Dixon of Barbourville;
his Mother-In-Law, Margaret Ann Smith of Cannon; Sister-In-Law,
Lisa Phipps of Barbourville; his aunts; Anna Marie Dixon Jones of
Barbourville; Maxine Humfleet Jones and husband, Rev. Robert C.
Jones of Louisville, Kentucky; Uncles, Bill Matt Dixon and wife, Kay
and Johnny Dixon and wife Kay, all of Barbourville; Nephews,
Alexander Phipps and Ethan Phipps both of Barbourville; Cousins,
Brian Jones and wife, Dean of Barbourville; Matthew Dixon of
Barbourville; Joy Robyn Fenwick and husband, Jimmy of Lexington Kentucky; John W. Dixon of Lexington, Kentucky; Maria June Dixon, Savannah, Georgia; Anna Katherine Dixon, Alameda, California; David Jones of New Orleans, Louisiana, Steve Jones, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky;
and Debbie Dennis and husband, Danny of Campbellsville, Kentucky and many other relatives and dear friends. Charley was preceded in death by; his Maternal Grandparents, Claude and Mattie Humfleet; his Paternal Grandparents: John C. and June D. Dixon; Father-In-Law; Arthur Smith.

Funeral Services for Charley Greene Dixon Jr. will be conducted at
the Barbourville First Baptist Church, Friday, June 27,2014 at 2:00 pm, with Pastor, Shane Nickell, Rev. Robert C. Jones and Mike Mills
officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with,
Steve Jones, David Jones, Brian Jones, John W. Dixon, Matthew Dixon,
Ethan Phipps and Alexander Phipps serving as pallbearers. Honorary
Pallbearers will be: Knox County Attorney's Office, Knox County
UNITE, Knox County Bar Association, Knox County Sheriff Deparment,
Kentucky State Police, Knox County Home Health, Barbourville City
Police Department. Family have requested contributions may be
made to the Knox County Chapter of the American Cancer Society in
loving memory of Charley Greene Dixon Jr. Friends will be received
at the Barbourville First Baptist Church, Thursday after 5:00 pm until
9:00 pm and Friday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm.
