Claude Benny Johnson, age 72, of Gray, died Friday, March 3, 2017 at his residence. He was the son of the late Roy Ledford and Marie Fry Johnson, born to them on December 28, 1944 in Gray, Kentucky.

Benny was a retired clerk for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. Benny enjoyed all sports especially U.K. Basketball, Photography, Hiking, hunting morel mushrooms, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved watching his great niece and nephew playing sports.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Lee Roy and Hershal Ledford Johnson.

Benny is survived by one sister: Karen Moses and husband, Kevin of Gray, Kentucky.
Two brothers: Louie Johnson and wife, Pattie of Caledonia, Minnesota and Keith Johnson and wife, Robyn of Gray, Kentucky.
Nieces and Nephews: Kathleena Lee and husband, Steven, Jason Johnson and wife, Jenny Fruth, Jessie Johnson and wife, Magaly, Joseph Johnson and Joan, Julie Johnson and husband, Joe, Christina McKee, Nicholas Johnson, Kevin Amos Moses and wife, Laurie, Kiker Moses and wife, Stephanie, Lori Rucker and husband, Timothy, Alicia Graeler and husband, Craig, Derek Johnson and wife, Katie, Daniel Johnson and Ashlee Johnson.
Great nieces and nephews: Naomi Lee, Shanna Lee, Matthew Fruth, Emily Fruth, Jessica Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Jordyn Johnson, Christen Johnson, Jett McGee, Sophia Johnson, Michael McKee, A.J. McKee, Katelyn Moses, Peyton Moses, Bentley Moses, Lexi Moses, Danika Johnson, Drew Rucker, Kimberly Damron, Timara Rucker, Erin Rucker, Kayla Graeler, Jacob Graeler and many relatives, including cousin Pam Fry Gatlin whom he shared the same birthday, and dear friends.


Funeral services for C. Benny Johnson will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Bargo officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery at Gray. With Nephews serving as pallbearers. The family of C. Benny Johnson will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at Hopper Funeral Home.
