Cleda Smith Jackson age 78, of Cannon, was born on March 11, 1938
at Hammons Fork in Knox County. She was a daughter of the late
Richard Smith and Martha Messer. Cleda died Friday, July 15,
2016 in the Continue Care Hospital at Baptist Health Corbin.
She was a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church. In June of
1957, she united in marriage to Lewis Lonnie Jackson and to this
union four beloved children were born. Along with her parents and
husband, Lonnie, she was preceded in death by a sister; Marie
Charles; two brothers; Randall Smith and Ernest Smith and a
son-in-law; Kenneth Gilliam.
Cleda is survived by her loving children; Tammy Lavonne Jackson
Gilliam, Teddie Lynece Jackson Bruner and husband, Gerald;
Timothy Lynn Jackson and wife, Betty and Terry Lyle Jackson all
of Cannon; her grandchildren; Tracy Mae Rice Wells and husband, Bill;
Tiffany Lynn Jackson Moore; great grandchildren; Colton Rae Moore;
Ella Kate Jackson and Ismaela Ruth Wells; sisters; Helen Messer
Haynes of Cannon; Ada Shannon of Knoxville, Tennessee; Anna Mae
Polte and Gail Whitt both of Ohio; her brothers; Johnny Smith of
Cannon; Beve Smith of Berea; Jimmy Messer, Floyd Messer, Dexter
Messer, and Arvil Messer all of Girdler; Luther Messer Jr. of
Illinois; and Chester Messer of Boone Height.
Funeral Services for Cleda Smith Jackson will be conducted in the
Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, July 18, 2016 at 3:00 pm with
Rev. Vernon Morris and Rev. Owen Smith officiating. Burial will
follow at the Bingham Cemetery at Cannon, with Kenneth Garland,
Hershel Jordan, James Gambrel, Marvin Garland, John Spence and
Gary Charles Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Cleda's church
family and all friends and neighbors. The Jackson family will
receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home, Monday after 12:30 pm
until the funeral hour at 3:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in
charge of all arrangements.
