Clifford "Cliff"
Edward Carroll
Apr 7, 1942 — Dec 31, 2022
Indianapolis
Barbourville, Ky. - Clifford Edward Carroll, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away December 31, 2022. Clifford was born in Pineville, Kentucky on April 7, 1942 to Walter and Nannie Brown Carroll. As a young man, Clifford enrolled in the Army and proudly served his country. He married Doraine Elizabeth Terhune, to whom he was married for 51 years. His chosen career was in the auto industry. He worked for Ford Motor Company for over 25 years.
Clifford loved unconditionally, his parents, his children, his siblings and his friends. He was a terrific role model to all who knew him and a supportive mentor. He was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son. He garnered great joy from helping his family members and friends, but did so always in a private manner between just the person(s) whom he helped and himself. He was selfless in his generosity and giving to others. Clifford was intelligent - he was a lifelong learner - who enjoyed the discoveries brought about with each new day. He liked teaching, especially teaching his siblings various skills like how to drive an automobile or how to shoot a gun. Clifford was a perfectionist - he wanted things done "correctly". He had an engineering mind. He spent hours taking apart/putting back together machinery. He would then get his brothers to try out his "new and improved" machines, although often times, his brothers would end up getting "shocked" with the improvements. All in good fun, for the name of science! He also invented fun and games to entertain his numerous siblings. Find the Belt and Splits Contests were two family favorites. Clifford also loved to travel, and was always up for a trip with his family. As a friend and loving family member, Clifford was attentive in his listening of one's concerns. He also was a person who could take advice.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Doraine Elizabeth Terhune; daughter, Kathy C. Auerbach (David); siblings: Dorothy Carroll Perkins (Steve), Ann Carroll Freeman (Douglas), Nyoka Carroll Hall (Darrell) and Doug Carroll (Linda Pauluzi); one grandchild, Mikaya and several nieces and nephews. A son, John Allen Carroll; and siblings: Donald Carroll, Mary Katherine McCarthy, Patty L. Carroll and Johnny Carroll, preceded him in death. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
