Curtis Shelton, age 78, of Heidrick, died Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his home. He was a son of the late Coleman and Ada Taylor Shelton, born to them on September 2, 1939 on Stinking Creek in Knox County.
Curtis was a former Coal Miner, and a former KCEOC School Bus Driver; and was a Member of the Young Grove Baptist Church.
On December 22, 1963, he united in marriage to Wanda Faye Denham, and to this union four daughters: Teresa, Janice, Angie and Melissa were born.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Ned and Euphemia Carnes Shelton; his father and mother: Coleman and Ada Taylor Shelton; his brother: Willie Shelton; and by his sister: Pauline Shelton Morris.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years: Wanda Faye Shelton of Heidrick. His four daughters: Teresa Carnes and husband, Ellis J. Carnes of Boone Height; Janice Shelton and Torries Castle of Heidrick; Angie Shelton and Barry Rowland of Barbourville; and Melissa Moren and husband, Corey of Heidrick.
His six grandchildren: Presley Carnes, Richard Branstutter, Kristin Broughton and husband, Zach; C. J. Carnes, Devin Thompson, and Taylor Beth Moren; and his great granddaughter: Bailee Branstutter.
His sister: Euphemia Castle and husband, Leland of Scottsburg, Indiana; his sister-in-law: Sinda Shelton of Artemus. His extended family: Stephanie Tye and Ashley Pierce. One special friend: Mike Swider; and many special nieces and nephews and their families; and many other relatives, and dear friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Curtis Shelton will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 25, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Collins and Rev. Kennon Roark officiating.
Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Corey Moren, Richard Branstutter, Barry Roland, Zach Broughton, Kendall Gray and Tyler Shelton.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Raju Vora and his Staff; and all Friends and Neighbors.
The Shelton family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, and on Monday after 10:00 A.M. and until the funeral hour of 2:00 P.M.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
