Cynthia Gambrel, 89, of Barbourville, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Heritage Health Care in Corbin. Cynthia was born February 23, 1927 in Knox County to the late Ellis and Flora(Stewart) Rollyson. She attended Poplar Grove Baptist Church, loved quilting and her family. Cynthia was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Rollyson, a sister, Amanda Grubb, and a great grandson Michael McDonald.
Surviving is her husband, Alvin Gambrel Sr., children, John Clifford (Susie) Gambrel, Shirley (Glenn) McDonald, and Larry (Kathy) Gambrel, all of Barbourville, Wilma (James S.) Cameron of Greensboro, Georgia, and Alvin Gambrel Jr. and fiancée, Tammy Smallwood of Bimble, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gambrel will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 30th, at Hopper Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and James McDonald officiating, with burial following in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick. Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn McDonald, James Cameron, Jeff Carter, Zach Carter, Nathaniel Smith, Alvin James Gambrel, Christopher Gambrel, and Kevin McDonald.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm Tuesday, and after 12 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
