Denver Mills, 91, of Heidrick,husband of the late Virgie Mills, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 in the Grant Haven Nursing Facility in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Mr. Mills was born on Stinking Creek, Knox County, to the late Clark and Lizzie Mills. He and his wife Virgie were married, March 12, 1946 and two children, Ronnie and Denver were born to the union. Denver was a member of Heidrick Holiness Church, and a U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving is a son, Ronnie Mills and wife, Anita, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, sisters, Charlene Engle of Gray, Dora Miller of Florida, and Sally Knuckles and husband, Walter of Corbin, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
His son, Denver, and siblings, Christine Richmond, Willie, Chester, Frank, and Tom Mills also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Hopper Funeral Home with Revs. Tommy Frazier, Fred Disney, and Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Patterson Cemetery in Heidrick. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Dennis Mills, Rolland Howard, Michael Mills, David Messer, Paul "Buddy" Mills, H.M. Mills, honorary pallbearers will be Joe Broughton, Robert Downey, Kenny Howard, William "Bill" Hudson, Wendell Jackson, Kenneth Lay, Keith Lay, and Dr. James West. The Mills family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Heidrick Holiness Church.
