Rev. Denvil Taylor Jr. age 72, of Cannon, Kentucky, was born on July 20, 1944 in Barbourville. He was the son of the late Denvil Taylor Sr. and Lillie Moore Taylor.Rev. Taylor died, Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Barbourville ARH. He was a well known and well loved Baptist Minister in Knox County. Rev. Taylor was a member and Pastor of the Swan Pond Baptist Church. He has been the pastor of the church for thirty five years. He was a member of the 1st Battalion 149th Infantry Barbourville, Kentucky. On August 19, 1966, he united in marriage to Louella Collinsworth and to this union two beloved daughters were born. Along with his parents,Rev. Taylor was preceded in death by; sisters, Dora Lea Buchanan, Dessil Creasy and Ruby Collins; brothers-in-law, Glenn Campbell, Glenn Collins, Roger Deaton, Howard Creasy and Lowell Buchanan.
Rev. Taylor is survived by his wife, Louella Taylor of Cannon; his daughters; Lisa Ann Goodin and husband, Bo of Harrogate, Tennessee; Lori Lynn Arnold and husband, David of Keavy, Kentucky; his dear grandchildren; Blake Collin Reece Arnold, Ethan Cade Arnold and Amy Jo Goodin; his sisters; Alma Campbell and Lillie King and husband, Weslie all of Walker Park Road, Barbourville; and Betty Sue Deaton of Barbourville.
Funeral Services for Rev. Denvil Taylor Jr. will be conducted at the Swan Pond Baptist Church, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Carl Gallion andDr. Roy Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with Nephews, Sam Creasy, Donnie Martin, Wes King, Mike Deaton, Roger Dale Deaton, Jason Baker, Samuel Keith Creasy and Jamie Hinkle. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Michael Collins, George Collins, Bert Scent, Jerry Campbell, Howard Creasy, Brad Centers, Rev. Tom Patterson, Dave Arnold, Bo Goodin, Stanley Peace, J.W. Warren. Rev. Jerry Thurman, Dr. James West, Mike Warfield, Roy Dean West, Rev. Bill Wolfe, Harold Carey, Jerry Carey John, Ray Taylor, Matt Collins, Chris Collins and Kevin Collins, and all deacons and church family of the Swan Pond Baptist Church, and all Knox County Preachers. Friends will be received at the Swan Pond Baptist Church, Tuesday after 5:00 pm and Wednesday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
