Mr. Dewey (Tubby) Brown Jr.,  age 73, of Scalf, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Brown was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dewey (Myrtle) Brown, born to them on December 22, 1945, at Scalf, Kentucky.

Mr. Brown was united in marriage with Jaqueline Brown on January 31, 1961, and to this union, eight children were born.

Mr. Dewey Brown was a member of the Concord Baptist Church. Mr. Brown was devoted to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his sisters. Mr. Brown loved to work, fish and hunt. Especially fond of deer-hunting, was Mr. Brown.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jacqueline Brown; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey (Myrtle) Brown; four brothers: Chester Brown, Gary Wayne Brown, Denver Brown, and Harvey Brown; one sister: Judy Smith; two half-sisters: Dorothy Brown and Wyoma Brown; one-half brother: M.D. Brown; and two sons and six grandchildren.

Mr. Brown leaves behind a host of family, friends and loved-ones to mourn his passing. Mr. Brown leaves behind four daughters: Connie Spangler and husband, Thomas, of Lufkin, Texas, Ethel Smith and husband Hank of Scalf, Kentucky; Patricia Brown and husband, Alvie, of Dewitt, Kentucky and Myrtle Mills of Barbourville, Kentucky. Mr. Brown leaves behind two sons: Denver Brown and his wife, Mary, of Dewitt, Kentucky and Dewey Brown III and his wife, Barbara, of Dewitt, Kentucky. Mr. Brown also leaves behind nineteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren who will dearly miss him. Also left to mourn Mr. Brown are his sisters: Barbara Gray of Flat Lick, Kentucky,  Elaine Gray and husband, Garrett, of Flat Lick, Kentucky, Gladys Hobbs and husband, Dempsy, of Scalf, Kentucky and Christine Brown and husband, David, of Hickory Corners, Michigan.

The Brown Family would like to extend a special " Thank You" to his caregivers: Dr. Ashburn, Dr. West, Dr. Keedy, Dr. House, Brittany (Dr. House's Office), and Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice Care).

Funeral services for Mr. Dewey Brown, Jr. will be held Thursday, July 25, 2019, at 2:00 PM in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brandon Dunn and Rev. Chester Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Mud Lick Cemetery at Dewitt, Kentucky with Mr. Brown's grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hopper Funeral Home.
