Mrs. Dolores Lyttle Liford, 81, of Hinkle, KY, passed away Monday evening, November 12, 2018, at her home. She was a daughter of the late Howard Banks and Myrtis Grace Lyttle, born on May 21, 1937, in Evarts, Harlan County, Kentucky.
On June 16, 1956, she united in marriage with Cecil Liford and to this union six children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Liford, brother, Howard Lyttle, sister Gloria Gafranek, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Maggie Mooneyham Liford.
Survivors include her six loving and devoted children, Theresa Kay Shelton and husband Kenneth of Union, KY, Sandra Gail Cox and husband Donnie of Hinkle, Tony Howard Liford and wife Tressa of Hinkle, Novella Ann Boehnke and husband Paul of Crestwood, KY, Keith Lawrence "Buster" Liford and wife Tammy of Flat Lick and Amy Cecil Lynn Collins and husband Dave of Barbourville, and honorary children, Junior and Charlotte Smith of Bimble.
Grandchildren: Sara Herbstreit, Jeremy & Joseph Shelton, Nicole Merrill, Matthew Cox, Anthony & Joshua Liford, Megan Boehnke, Zachary Boehnke, Brooke Bingham, Zoey Liford, Cooper, Cayden & Cashton Collins, and honorary grandchild, Dee Wilson.
Great Grandchildren: Brinley, Emme, Allie & Jackson Herbstreit, Noah Donaldson, Brayden & Hunter Shelton, Bryanna Gray, Haley Cox, Kyndal & Kylie Merrill, Tatum Cox, Emalyn & Lillian Liford, Anne Marjorie Hudey, and Elijah Clay Boehnke, and honorary great grandchildren, Brittany Blackburn, Corey Gilmore, Emilyann Wilson and Madison Taylor, and honorary great great grandchild, Ethan Blackburn.
One Sister: Bobby Trigg and husband Ed of Northville, MI.
In 1955, Cecil sought opportunity with a new job in Detroit, MI. He was soon enchanted with a beautiful and virtuous brunette named Dolores Lyttle. In June 1956, she did him the honor of becoming his bride. They started their lives together in Detroit and moved on to Louisville before returning to Payne's Creek to raise their expanding family. She worked by his side at Liford Brothers' Produce until an accident forced his retirement and changed their lives on October 23, 1976. Dolores was his lifeline as he recovered and cared for him tenderly for the rest of his life. In addition to raising six children and being a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, Dolores was a kind and motherly influence on the many others she welcomed into her home. She was a life-long Christian and a dedicated member of Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church.
Her funeral service will be conducted at Hopper Funeral Home on Friday, November 16 at 2:30pm with Rev. Keith Lawrence "Buster" Liford and Rev. Sylvester Dunn officiating.
She will be laid to rest in the Liford Cemetery at Hinkle.
Casket bearers will be: Grandsons
Honorary bearers will be: Sons-In-Law, special family and friends.
Friends may call at Hopper Funeral Home on Thursday evening at 6:00pm until 9:00pm and on Friday until the hour of the funeral.
