Dora Mae Mills Smith, age 92, of Bimble, went home to be with her Savior on Friday, November 3, 2017. She passed peacefully at her home, Surrounded by her children and many of her grandchildren. She was a daughter of the late John A. and Marinda Carnes Mills, born to them on July 12, 1925 at Barnyard in Knox County.
Mrs. Smith was a Member of the Holiness faith, and was a well known Sales Clerk having worked in several stores in Knox County.
On December 20, 1941, she united in marriage to Chris C. Smith, and to this union seven sons and one daughter were born.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chris C. Smith on January 23, 1989; her six brothers: Reed Mills, Hubert Mills, Arthur Mills, Ben Mills, Walter Mills and Chester Mills; and her four sisters: Mary Butler, Alice Sizemore, Flora Partin and Rosa Carnes.
She is survived by her loving family of eight children: Herbert Smith and wife, Carol of Bimble, Harold Smith and wife, Debra of Bimble, Don Smith and wife, Lynn of Barbourville, Jerry Smith and wife, Peggy of Bimble, John Smith and wife, Ruby of Girdler, Rev. Doug Smith and wife, Diane of Barbourville, Judy Smith Baker of Barbourville, and Ralph Smith and wife, Shelby of Barbourville. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews, other special relatives, and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services for Dora Mae Mills Smith will be 12:00 P.M. noon on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Frazier and Rev. Lynn Dotson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Henry Mills Cemetery on Stinking Creek.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Dennis Mills, Brad Smith, Terry Mays, Shawn Smith, Keith Abner, John J. Smith, Jimmy Mays, Jr., and Darrin Smith.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
The family would like to offer a "Special Thanks" to: Cindi, Patti, Heather, Barb, Melissa, and Tracie of the Hospice Staff, Hospice Chaplain Lynn Dotson, and Dr. Bobby Turner and Staff for their kindness, care, compassion and love for their mother.
The Smith family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Monday, and on Tuesday after 9:00 A.M. and until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
