Barbourville, Ky. – Doris Faye Johnson , 87, of Swan Pond, departed this life to be with the Lord on November 10, 2021. Doris was the daughter of Ethel Stewart Prince and Bill Prince, joyfully born to them on September 24, 1934, in Knox County, Kentucky.
Doris was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, as well as, a devoted, long standing, member of the Swan Pond Baptist Church where she was both the secretary and song leader. Doris was a member of the Eastern Star, #411, for over 30 years and she was a Kentucky Colonial. In her spare time, Doris enjoyed cooking for family and friends, cheering on the University of Kentucky basketball team, quilting, and reading her Bible.
In addition to her parents Ethel Stewart Prince and Bill Prince, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband Herbert Laten Johnson; three brothers Ted L. Prince, Harold Prince, and Curtis Prince; and sister-in-law Norma Prince.
Left behind to celebrate Doris's life is daughter Judy Mills, son Terry Johnson and his wife Fayetta, two cherished grandchildren, Savannah Johnson, and Curtis Mills, and sisters-in-law Edith Prince, Joella Prince and Viola Lundy. Doris's beloved pet and constant companion, Cole Johnson, also survives her and will miss her dearly.
The Johnson Family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the Swan Pond Baptist Church from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. Reverend Vernon Morris will officiate with assistance from Pastor Michael Deland and Mr. Scott Partin. A musical tribute will be performed by Ryan Stamper. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Hutchins Cemetery at Bailey Switch, Kentucky. Pallbearers are Ryan Stamper, Ryan Owens, Logan McDonald, Cameron Hudson, Scott Partin, Don Carter, Robert Partin, and Glenn Baker. Honorary Pallbearers are Members of Swan Pond Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the Johnson Family has requested donations be made to Swam Pond Baptist Church in loving memory of Doris Faye Johnson. Donations can be mailed to Swan Pond Baptist Church, Attention Mr.Van Hudson, 4789 South KY 11, Barbourville, Kentucky 40906. The Johnson Family expresses gratitude for these donations.
The Hopper Family, Victoria Hopper and Sally Hopper, our Directors, Mrs. Bonita Bingham Creech and Mr. Robin Reese, and our staff express sincere condolences to the family and friends of Doris Faye Johnson .
During the ongoing pandemic, everyone attending services for Doris Faye Johnson is strongly encouraged to wear a face mask and maintain a social distance from others of six feet.
