Barbourville, Ky. – Dorothy Mills Newman , 92, of Himyar, Kentucky, passed away August 30, 2021.  Dorothy was the daughter of Nettie Hubbard and Ned Mills born to them on January 18, 1929, in Flat Lick, Kentucky.

Dorothy united in marriage to Edward Newman on May 4, 1950, and shortly after relocated with her husband to Greenup, Kentucky to start a life together.  Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker, who loved working in and around her home.  She maintained a flower garden and enjoyed cooking special meals for her family.  After Dorothy was widowed in 1978, she continued to live in Greenup, Kentucky for another eleven years before returning to her birthplace in 1989.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Nettie Hubbard Mills and Ned Mills, husband Edward Newman, and ten brothers Clarence, Chester, Walter, Cecil, Henrey, Lester, Elmer, Bill, Lee, and Leonard Mills.

Left behind to mourn her passing are her loving nieces, nephews, and friends.  A special grandson, Randy Newman, also survives Dorothy and will remember her fondly.

A graveside service is planned for Dorothy on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Farly Cemetery at Himyar, Kentucky.  Reverend Tommy Frazier will officiate with musical tributes to be performed by Jaylee Morris.  Family ask that those planning to attend the service, meet at Hopper Funeral Home at 12:00 PM to travel in procession to the Farley Cemetery at  Himyar, Kentucky.  Casket Bearers are Larry Cornett, Matthew Coots, Rex Rittenhouse, and Randy Newman.
