Obituary

Earl Gambrel age 87, of Flat Lick, was born on October 26, 1926, at
Dewitt, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Eli Gambrel and Sallie Miller Gambrel. Earl died Monday, September 8, 2014 in the Knox County Hospital. He was a retired coal miner and served in the
United States Army. On December 16, 1947, he united in marriage to
Dorothy Lester and to this union three beloved children were born.
Along with his parents and wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death
by; his brothers; Virgil Gambrel, Thomas Paul Gambrel and John Teasley and two sisters; Agnes Messer and Ethel Teasley.

Earl is survived by his son; Donnie Gambrel and wife, Jeanie of San Antonio, Texas; his daughters; Barbara Collins of Flat Lick, Kentucky; Helen Garcia and husband, Ted of College Station, Texas;
his grandchildren; Lonnie Dale Gambrel, John Mark Collins, Lola Ana
Garcia; Carlos A. Garcia and Ted E. Garcia Jr.; his great grandchildren; Damon Collins and T.T. Spencer; his sisters; Edna Sanders of Virginia and Georgia Baker of Dewitt.

Funeral Services for Earl Gambrel will be conducted Friday, September 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Denvil Taylor and Rev. Kennon Roark officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick, with Damon Collins, Leonard Baker, Jerry Cox, John Mark Collins, Joel Lynn Watkins, William Earl Lester and Clifford Gambrel serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Don Williamson and all dear neighbors and friends of Earl. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home,
Friday after 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
