Ella Mae Farmer Chitwood age 81, of the Swan Pond Community, Barbourville, was born there April 11, 1933. She was a daughter of the late Earl Farmer and Ethel Detherage Farmer. Ella Mae died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at her home. She was a member of the Swan Pond Baptist Church and was a Elementary School Cook at G.R. Hampton School before retiring. Ella Mae united in marriage to Dee Chitwood. Along with her parents and former husband, Dee, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hester Farmer Bowman and a brother, Joe Farmer.

Ella Mae is survived by her brothers; Harold Lloyd Farmer of Louisville, Kentucky and James Russell Farmer and wife, Dora of the Swan Pond Community, Barbourville; her sisters; Wilma Ruth Farmer Pate Hamilton of Park Hills, Kentucky and Rose Farmer Garland.
She also leaves several dear and beloved nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Ella Mae Farmer Chitwood will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Denvil Taylor and Rev. Charlie Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the Faulkner Chapel Cemetery at Swan Pond, with all the Deacons of the Swan Pond Baptist Church serving as pallbearers. The Chitwood family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Saturday after 6:00 pm and Sunday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00pm. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangments.
