Ellen Peters, age 90, of Barbouville, died Monday, October 14, 2013 in the Knox County Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Jesse James Lucy and the late Anna Belle Garland Lucy Criss, born to them on April 25, 1923 at Horse Creek in Clay County, Kentucky.
Mrs. Peters was a well known Knox County House Keeper; and a Member of the Northside Missionary Baptist Church of Barbourville.
On April 10, 1939, she united in marriage to Andy Peters, and to this union nine children: Elbert, Charlie, Thomas Ray, Ricky, Tommy Donald Lee, Marie, Pauline, Mildred and Anna Mae were born.
Along with her Father and Mother, Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her husband: Andy Peters; her four sons: Elbert Peters, Charlie Peters, Thomas Ray Peters and Ricky Peters; her three sons-in-law: Joel Lee Bunch, Delmas Taylor and Billy Hooker; her granddaughter: Sharon Ann Hooker; her two great granddaughters: Baby Sharon Ann Hooker and Stephanie Renee Bunch; her brother: Robert Lucy; and by her sister: Donie Broughton.
Mrs. Peters is survived by her loving family: her son: Tommy Donald Lee Peters and wife, Elizabeth of Somerset, Kentucky.
Her four daughters: Marie Peters Taylor, Pauline Peters Hooker and Mildred Peters Bunch all of Barbourville; and Anna Mae Peters Bunch of Corbin.
Her twenty-one grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren.
Her Brother: Leland Edward Lucy; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services for Ellen Peters will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 18, 2013 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Bunch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Warren Cemetery at Girdler.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be the Grandsons of Mrs. Peters.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: the Northside Missionary Baptist Church, the Knox County Hospital Staff, and the Barbourville Family Health Center Staff.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
The Peters family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home on Thursday after 6:00 P.M., and on Friday after 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
