Obituary

Elsie Mae Senters Jones, age 84, of Corbin, and formerly of Little Poplar Creek, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 in the Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin.
She was a daughter of the late Dewey Richard and Rhodia (Logan) Senters, born to them on April 8, 1929 on Poplar Creek in Knox County.

Elsie at the age of 17 began working for Andy Senters Grocery Store at Bryants Store, and later she worked for Warner Brothers Sewing Factory, Ray Reams Realty, Co-owner and Seamstress for D.E. & F. Sewing, and Post Master relief at Bryants Store Post Office.
Some of Elsie's hobbies that she enjoyed were Sewing, Crocheting, taking care of Flowers, and listening and playing Music.
She became a Christian at the First Pentecostal Church in the early 60's, and later she attended Apple Grove Baptist Church and Old Poplar Baptist Church.

On March 4, 1974, she united in marriage to Green Jones, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1989.

Along with her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Everett Haze Senters; two sisters: Leonia Shelton and Delaine Senters Gibson Morris; a infant brother, and by two infant sisters; two brothers-in-law: Leslie Shelton and Charlie Bennett; and by a special friend: Harold Troutman.

Elsie is survived by her loving family: her sisters: Mildred Senters of Bryants Store; Faye Bennett of Barbourville; Brenda McCreary and husband, Harold of Corbin; and Elaine Crawford and husband, James of Bryants Store.
Her sister-in-law: Maxine Senters of Mackey Bend; a special friend: Chester Bryant of Corbin; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Elsie Mae Senters Jones will be 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Gray, Rev. Terry Broughton and Rev. Denvil Taylor, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Prichard Cemetery at Mackey Bend.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Harold Senters, Harold McCreary, Jerry Benttin, A.J. Senters, Kenneth Grubb and Charles Miles.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Junior and Gency McKeehan, James Crawford, Terry Senters, Billy Senters, Billy Shelton, Dennis Gibson, and the Friendship House neighbors in Corbin.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

The Jones family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
