Ernest Stanley Miller, age 84, of Bryants Store, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Barbourville ARH. He was a son of the late Willis and Mercy West Miller, born to them on March 31, 1932 at Davis Bend in Knox County.
Stanley had worked in a Rock Quarry for many years, and also worked for General Motors until his retirement. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War; a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church; a Mason of over 40 years with the Mountain Masonic Lodge #187 F. & A. M. of Barbourville; a well known and loved Knox County Fox Hunter; and he loved to raise a Garden, and he loved his Beagles and Fox Hounds.
In 1954, Stanley united in marriage to Othella Mae Gibson and to this union five children were born.
He was preceded in death his father and mother: Willis and Mercy West Miller; his two sisters: Elsie Rhodes and Ima Mays; his six brothers: Cam Miller, Laymond Miller, Jack Miller, Brad Miller, Charlie Miller, and Bill Tom Miller; any by his loving son: Herbert Duane Miller.
On June 2, 1978, he united in marriage to Doris Egnor Miller.
He is survived by his loving family: His wife, Doris S. Miller of Bryants Store.
His children: Pat Miller and wife, Rosemary of Corbin; Charlie Miller and wife, Sue of Bailey Switch; Beverly Sue Miller Golden and husband, Virgil of Leavenworth, Kansas; and Lynn Miller McQueen and husband, Frank of Bryants Store; and his loving step-children: Roger Vanover and wife, Linda of Little Brush Creek; Blanche Collins and husband, Herman of Trosper; Lillian Smith and husband, Don of Barbourville; Kay Henderson and husband, Harold of Kipton, Ohio; Donna Daughn and husband, Randy of Whitley County; and Joyce Gray and husband, Terry of Bryants Store; and a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
His two sisters: Margaret Adkins of Wakeman, Ohio; and Mary Fortney and husband, Dan of West Carrollton, Ohio.
His two brothers: Jerry Miller and wife, Bonnie of Corbin; and Larry Miller and wife, Joyce of Artemus; and several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Ernest Stanley Miller will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 26, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Vandy and Rev. Owen Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Nancy Bain Cemetery at Hubbs Creek with Military Honors.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Friends.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be his dear Fox Hunting buddies.
The Miller family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Hopper Funeral Home, and after 9:00 A.M. on Sunday and until the funeral hour.
There will be a Masonic Service on Saturday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
