Frances Waneta Baker age 82 of Corbin, passed away Tuesday at the Heritage Nursing Home in Corbin. She was born on January, 12 1936 to the late Earl and Emily Stewart Messer in Knox County. On July 7, 1952 she was united in marriage to the late Arnold Baker. She was a retired teacher for Knox County Board of Education having taught at Boone School. She was a member of Binghamtown Baptist Church, an avid reader, a Kentucky Colonel, A member of KEA Retired and loved to crochet Quilts.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by sons: Lonnie and Bill Baker, by a brother: Bob Messer and sisters: Maggie Edwards and Linda Hill.
She is survived by her son: Donald Earl Baker of Barbourville, a daughter: Mona Jean Owens of Jarvis, sisters: Earlene Landers of Winchester, Indiana and Betty Jo Odell of Union City, Indiana ,her grandchildren: Arnold Baker II, Donna Baker Gross, Penny Denise LaMonica, Leanna Owens and Diana Owens, her great grandchildren: Jack LaMonica, Noah Don Gross, Landon Baker Gross, Joe Gross, Kate Gross and Andrew Gross. Plus many other dear relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Frances Waneta Baker will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday June 10, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with William Boyd Bingham III officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 11:00 A.M. Sunday until the hour of service at Hopper Funeral Home.
