Gary Wayne Peavley age 60, of Barbourville, was born at Gray, Kentucky on November 3, 1953. He was a son of the late Tom Peavley and Frankie Ballsinger Peavley. Gary died Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Knox County Hospital. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Gary was a retired employee of American Greeting and was the owner and operator of Peavleys Deer Processing. On March 9, 1974, he united in marriage to Barbara Scalf and to this union four dear daughters were born. Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by; a brother, Bobby Peavley, sister-in-law, Seweline Peavley, and brothers-in-law; Floyd Anderson and Harold Jackson.

Gary is survived by his dear wife, Barbara Peavley of Barbourville; his daughters; Sandy Swafford and husband, Sam; Jaime Floyd and husband, Nick all of Barbourville; Jessica Carnes and husband, Brandon of Gray; and Tamara Peavley of Barbourville; his grandchildren; Joshua Swafford, Caleb Swafford, Kylee Swafford, Tyler
Floyd, Isaac Floyd, Riley Carnes, Makinlee Carnes and Kashton Carnes;
his sisters; Maxine Anderson of Gray; Lillie Jackson of Gray, Hazel
Owens and husband, Dale of Gray; Barbara Warren and dear companion,
Bill Puckett of Corbin; Marjorie Benge of Gray; and Bonnie Hubbs and husband, Russ of Gray and his brother,Tommy Peavley and wife, Deana of Gray.

Funeral Services for Gary Wayne Peavley will be conducted Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Herman Mills and Rev. James Bargo officiating. Burial will follow in
the Campbell Cemetery at Gray, with Grandsons, Joshua and Caleb Swafford; Nephews Tommy Dean Peavley, Dustin Mills, Mike Owens; brothers-in-law; Dwyane Scalf, Ricardo SantosCruz and friend, Lewis Thomas
serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbeares will be: Nephews, Teddie and Justin Scalf; Terry Seals, the David Lundy Family, Floyd Meadows, Bill Woodward, members of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and staff at the Barbourville Family Health Center. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Monday after 6:00 pm; Tuesday after 6:00 pm and Wednesday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
