Geneva Valentine Mills age 102, of Cannon, was born on July 11, 1912
in Knox County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Matthew
Valentine and Dora Barnes Valentine. Mrs. Mills died at her home
Thursday, May 14, 2015. She was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. On October 4, 1932, Geneva united in marriage to Willie B. Mills and to this union six beloved children were born. Along with her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by; two sisters; Velva Valentine and Virgie Mills; and three brothers; Calvin Valentine, Ervin Valentine and
Charles Valentine.
Geneva is survived by her daughters; Loretta Lazenby and husband,
Jim of Clarkston, Michigan; Yvonne Caudill of Cannon, Kentucky;
Marie Jelinek of Lexington, Kentucky; Mary Bain and husband, Don
of Lancaster, Kentucky; and Cheryl Messer and husband, David of
Rockhold, Kentucky; her son; Willard Mills and wife, Cindy of
Danville, Kentucky; her fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren. her sisters;
Elvie Messer of Mount Sterling, Kentucky and Joyce Smith of Melvindale, Michigan.
Funeral Services for Geneva Valentine Mills will be conducted Sunday,
May 17, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with
Rev. Tommy Frazier, Rev. Dennis Chesnut and Rev. Sylvester Dunn
officiating. Burial will follow in the Bingham Cemetery at Cannon,
with, Henry Matt Mills, Donald Bain, Bill Warren, Josh Warren,
Jacob Warren, Michael Mills, Deuce Towe and Ronnie Mills serving as
pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Geneva's Church Family at
the Locust Grove Baptist Church. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Saturday after 6:00 pm and Sunday after 10:00am
until the funeral hour at 1:30pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of
all arrangements.
