Georgia Smith Hix, age 93 of Barbourville, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Berea, Kentucky.
She was a daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Williams Smith, born to them on February 9, 1925 in Barbourville.
Mrs. Hix was born and raised in Barbourville. She was a devoted wife and mother and who loved her family dearly, and she was of the Pentecostal faith.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Hix was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Hix, and her oldest child Charles Hix, and by her five sisters: Doris, Teresa, Roberta, Edna and Millie; and by her two brothers: Garfield and Edward.
She is survived by her loving family: Her children: Ronald Hix of Barbourville; Jim Hix of Florence, Kentucky; Connie Mills and husband, Harry of Berea, Kentucky; Dianna Cain and husband, Bart of Berea, Kentucky; Kathie Hoover of Merced, California; Vivian Smith of Hamilton, Ohio; Edna Vitale and husband, Steve of Germantown, Ohio. Her twenty grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren. Her two sisters: Cecil Gregory and Verl Wyatt both of Corbin; and many nieces and nephews, and other dear relatives, and dear friends to mourn her passing.
The Celebration of the Life of Georgia Smith Hix will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Will Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery in Smith Hollow in Knox County.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be the Grandsons of Mrs. Hix.
The Hix family will receive friends after 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Hopper Funeral Home and until the funeral hour.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
