Rev. Glenn W. Campbell age 85, of Gray, was born on January 8, 1928 at Loyall, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Stephen A. Campbell and Sarah Ellen (Essie) Miracle Campbell. Rev. Campbell died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Baptist Health in Corbin. He was a member of the 17th Street Christian Church in Corbin. Rev. Campbell was a well known Christian Minister and was a Assistant Supervisor of Maintenance for the Kentucky Department of Transportation before retiring. He also served in the United States Navy. On October 1, 1948, he united in marriage to Sylvia Rose Garland and to this union two loving daughters were born. Along with his parents, Rev. Campbell was preceded in death by; his wife, Sylvia Rose Garland Campbell; two sisters; Thelma E. Campbell and Opal Campbell Peterson and a brother, Billy S. Campbell.
Rev. Campbell is survived by his daughters; Barbara Glynn Plumley and husband, Daniel of Corbin; Sharon Marlene Mills and husband, Dennis of Gray; his grandchildren; David and wife, Ann; Lara and husband Eric; Adam and wife, Jenny and Cara; his great grandchildren; Joshua, Elizabeth, Ashleigh and James; several loving nieces and nephews and a very close family friend, Cathy Garrison of Corbin.
Funeral Services for Rev. Glenn W. Campbell will be conducted Friday, December 27, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor, Alex Idle and family members officiating. Burial will follow at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, with David Plumley, Adam Mills, Eric Ford, James Morgan, Dennis Mills and Daniel Plumley serving as pallbearers. The Campbell family have requested contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Rev. Glenn W. Campbell. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Thursday, evening after 6:00 pm and Friday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 11:00 am. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
