Obituary

Dewitt, Ky. - Hattie Susan Williamson Helton, age 48, passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 in Lexington. Born May 7, 1971, Susan, as she was lovingly known, was the daughter of Cordia and J. R. Williamson of Flat Lick.  Susan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Williamson, preceded her in death.

On June 28, 1997, Susan was united in marriage to Hobert Helton, and to this blended union there are four surviving daughters: Melissa Bargo and boyfriend Justin Wagner of Bimble, Jessica Van and her husband Brandon of Corbin, Angie Powers and husband Jason of Poplar Creek and Holly Helton and fiancee David Dunn of Poplar Creek.

In addition to her husband and children, Susan is survived by a brother, Roger Williamson, and six grandchildren: Aaliyah and Braydon Van, Delani Helton, Jacob Warren, Jordan Powers and Ambria Dunn. She is also survived by her very special friend, Stephanie Wallace.

Susan was an LPN for the last 22 years at The Heritage Nursing Home in Corbin.  She was an active member and volunteer of the Union Mission Baptist Church of Moores Creek. Susan greatly enjoyed going on motorcycle rides, especially her yearly ride to the beach.  She also loved spending time in the Cherokees.  Susan was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she treasured caring for and spending time with her family.

Funeral services for Hattie Susan Helton will be held Tuesday, September 24, at 11:00 a.m., at Union Mission Baptist Church with Rev. Derrick Herman Mills and Rev. Herman Mills officiating. Pallbearers, beloved by Susan, will be Jason Powers, Brandon Van, Braydon Van, David Dunn, Justin Wagner, and Ron Helton.  Mr. Roger Williamson is an Honorary Pallbearer.  Burial will follow at Moores Creek in the Helton Cemetery.

The Helton family will receive friends Sunday, September 22, at Hopper Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, September 23, at Union Mission Baptist Church from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
