Helen Jean Messer Grubb Parkins age 75, of Acorn Fork, Flat Lick, Kentucky, was born on March 8, 1943 at Walker, Kentucky. Helen died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Saint Joseph Hospital, London, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Sawyer Messer and Martha Warren Messer. She was a member of the Hubbard Missionary Baptist Church, was the owner and operator of the Sunshine Cleaning Service, a Homemaker, and was a Caregiver. In the year of 1957, she united in marriage to Lawrence Grubb who preceded her in death. Later she united in marriage to Richard Parkins. Helen was also preceded in death by; her sisters, Geneva Messer, infant, Sally, Bernice Smith and Nancy Mills; brothers; Sawyer Messer Jr, Reed Messer and James Albert Messer.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sue Dickison of Manchester, Kentucky; her sons; Lawrence Grubb Jr. and wife, Sandy of Lexington, Kentucky; Johnny James Grubb and wife, Debbie of Lexington, Kentucky; and Emanuel Grubb and wife, Lori of Atlanta, Georgia; her grandchildren; Brooke, Keaton, Regina, Sheila, Amber, Scott and Michael and a great grandson, Bradley; her sisters; Lois Gambrel of Walker, Kentucky; Barbara Baker of Burnside, Kentucky; and a brother; Willie Messer of Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral Services for Helen Jean Messer Grubb Parkins will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, September 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Nathan Messer and Rev. Ricky Broughton officiating. Burial will follow in the Julie Mills Cemetery at Walker, Kentucky with family members serving as pallbearers. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Sunday, after 6:00 pm and Monday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
