James H. "Jimbo" Martin age 76, of Barbourville, was born at Warren
Kentucky on February 19, 1938. He was a son of the late Albert Martin and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Burch Martin. Jimbo died Monday, July 21, 2014 in the Veterans Nursing Home in Hazard, Kentucky. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Artemus, was a retired Shift
Engineer for Kentucky Utilities and served in the United States
Army. On July 1, 1961, he united in marriage to Alma Roark and to this union two dear children were born. Along with his parents,
Jimbo was preceded in death by a sister, Joella Carter.
Jimbo is survived by his wife, Alma Martin of Barbourville; his son;
James Martin and wife, Rhonda of Bimble; his daughter; Sherry Liford and husband, Vernon of Bimble; grandchildren; Ashlee Brooke Martin;
Jesse Ray Liford, Wade Alan Liford and Colby James Martin; his
great granddaughter; Makinlee James Martin; his sister; Nellie
"Doddie" Lawson of Barbourville; his brother; John Bill Martin and wife, Doris of London, Kentucky and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for James H. "Jimbo" Martin will be conducted Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ralph Halcomb officiating. Burial will follow in the Burch Alford Cemetery at
Artemus with, Jim Roark, Tim Roark, Randy Lawson, Jesse Liford,
Wade Liford and Colby Martin. Friends will be received at the Hopper
Funeral Home, Wednesday after 6:00 pm and Thursday after 11:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
