James William (J.W.) Bowlin age 83, of Barbourville was born there on January 8, 1934. He was a son of the late Tom Bowlin and Mary Alice Mills Bowlin. J.W. died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Baptist Health in Corbin. He was a member and choir member at the Highland Park Baptist Church at Heidrick. He was a butcher at the A&P Grocery
in Barbourville for thirty-nine years. On July 7, 1953, he united in marriage to Myrtle Smith and to this union two beloved children were born. J.W. loved his famiy very much. He loved his church family,
he enjoyed going to the local community center to sing with his friends and enjoyed fishing with his buddies. Along with his parents, J.W. was preceded in death by his son, James Brian Bowlin, sisters,
Wilma Napier, Wanda Rhodes, Maude Peace, Frances Williamson Charlott Bowlin and a brother, T.H. Bowlin.
J.W. is survived by his wife, Myrtle Bowlin of Barbourville; his daughter, Myra Lynn Barton of London; his sister, Jeanette Miller of Barbourville; his grandchildren; Dr. Charles Brent Barton and wife, Ashley of London; Rebecca L. Kraftick of Lexington; Lora L. Barton of Richmond and James Brian Bowlin II, of Dewitt; ten great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for James William (J.W.) Bowlin will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm, with Rev.Jeffrey Branum and Lora L. Barton officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery at Davis Bend, with Dr. Charles Brent Barton, Charles Logan Barton, Ashton Davis Barton, Mason Christopher Kraftick, James Brian Bowlin II and Tim Bargo serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: J.W.'s church family at the Highland Park Baptist Church. The Bowlin family have suggested
contributions may be made to the Highland Park Baptist Church or to
Hospice of the Bluegrass in loving memory of James William (J.W.) Bowlin. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Saturday
after 11:00 am until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
