James Willie Smith age 74, of Morning View, Kentucky and formerly
of Knox County, departed this life Tuesday, December 27, 2016
at his home. He was a son of the late William Kapoke Smith and
Nancy Ann Brummett Smith. He was united in marriage to Patricia
Campbell and to this union four children were born. James had
three step-sons, seven sisters, and four brothers.

He is survived by two daughters, one son and two step-sons;
Carolyn Patricia Barrett of Keavy, Kentucky; Garcia Burns of Corbin;
Ed Charlie Smith of Corbin; Donnie Smith and Mitchell Smith
both of Morning View, Kentucky; a brother; Roy Richard Smith and
wife, Joann of Jarvis; Mary Belle Swafford and husband, Billy
of Cincinnati, Ohio; Eva Smith and husband Earl of Jarvis;
a special granddaughter; Carly and many other dear grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by a son, little James Bill Smith;
a step-son, Mark Smith; Five sisters; Ruby Warren, Emily Tuttle,
Verdie Garrison, Evelyn Smith, Rebecca Stallings, Three
brothers; Solomon Crit Smith, Frank P. Smith and John Smith.
James leaves behind many beloved family members and dear
friends.

Funeral Services for James Willie Smith will be conducted in
the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, December 31, 2016
at 2:00 pm with Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. Burial will
follow in the Smith Cemetery at Elam Branch at Jarvis,
with nephews and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral
Home Saturday after 11:00 am until the funeral hour
at 2:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of
all arrangements.
