Janet Elizabeth Davis Smith,72, of Corbin, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Baptist Health Care. Janet was born, September 1, 1942 in Grayson, Kentucky to the late John Franklin and Blanche (Horne) Davis.

Janet was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, WV with a B.A. in elementary education. She taught at various Cabell County Schools in Huntington, WV, and was a substitute teacher in Carter County, KY. She also played piano for Grayson Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member, for 19 years, and played piano for Cornerstone Good Samaritan Ministry. Janet was also a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church for 19 years in Cumberland, MD. Upon Glen and Janet moving to Corbin, KY, she had been attending Artemus Christian Church.

Janet is survived by her husband of 42 years, Glen H. Smith, one daughter, Elizabeth Smith-Copley and her husband Jake Copley, a brother-in-law, David Smith and wife Carolyn, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Hopper Funeral Home with Jake Copley officiating. Burial will follow in Barbourville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
