Jean M. Wainscott, born May 4th, 1936, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Christian Health Center in Corbin, Kentucky. She is survived by three children: Robert Wainscott, Jr.;daughter-in-law, Denise Cope-Wainscot; Paula King and husband, Terry; John Wainscott and wife, Michelle; four grandchildren: Robert Wainscott III, Nicholas King, Jessica King, and Jacob King; and her sister, Joan Dalton of Walpole, Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Wainscott, Sr.

Jean grew up in Wapole, Massachusetts where she met and married Marine Sergeant Robert "Bob" Wainscott, Sr. from Frankfort, Kentucky. Upon retirement from the Marine Corps they settled in Kentucky, moving to Barbourville in 1976. Jean earned both her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Arts in Education degrees from Union College in 1983 and 1990.

She was proud to have enjoyed a career in education and social services that included employment with the school system, Cumberland River Comprehensive Care, KCEOC, and the Appalachian Education Opportunity Center. Jean was an avid reader, outstanding educator, writer, and creative artist who lived a full life enjoying many friendships; working with children and living by faith. Jean was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.

A private memorial service will be held in Massachusetts.
