Obituary

Jerry Starlin Bays age 67, of Williamsburg, Kentucky, was born on
June 28, 1947 at Trosper, Kentucky. He was a son of the late
Fred Bays Sr. and Edith Milton Bays. Jerry died Tuesday, March 3,
2015 at his home in Williamsburg. Along with his parents, Jerry
was preceded in death by; a son, Kenneth Russell Bays; brothers;
Charles W. Bays, Joe E. Bays, Robert G. Bays, Fred Bays and a infant
brother; sisters; Lillian Hembree Lawson and Jeanette Bays Hammons Moran.

On July 4, 2002, Jerry united in marriage to Nora Ball. He is
survived by his wife, Nora of Williamsburg; his daughters; Leigh Bays Donald and husband, Phillip of Georgetown, Kentucky; Edith Bays Tye of Corbin; Lori Boggs and husband, Tim of Tupelo, Mississippi; Geri Danielle Bays of Williamsburg and Carla Lawson and husband, David
of Artemus; his son; Kenneth Bays of Corbin; fifteen grandchildren;
six great grandchildren; his brother; Kenneth K. Hembree and wife,
Joan of Corbin; his sisters; Mildred Bays Kronenbitter and husband,
Don of Phoenix, Arizona; Geraldine Hembree Smith of Corbin; Joan Detherage Bruner and husband, Eugene of Corbin; and sisters-in-law;
Grace Bays of Sumter, South Carolina and Kathy Henson Bays of Barbourville.

Jerry was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the
Vietnam War. He was a member of the Artemus First Baptist Church. Jerry was loved by many friends and church families as well as co-workers from his extensive law enforcement career. He will be remembered for his love of music, especially the spreading of God's
word through the gospel music he sang.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at Hopper Funeral Home,
Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Rev. James M. Lawson, Rev.
Gerald Mullins, Rev. Larry Waddell, Rev. James Hodge and Brent Thomas
officiating. Private Interment will be in the Tinsley Cemetery at
Trosper, Kentucky. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home
Saturday, after 12:00 noon until the service hour at 2:00 pm. The
Bays family have requested donations be made to the Beulah Mountain Children's Home, 2995 Beulah Heights Road, Whitley City, Kentucky 42653 or to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road,
Lexington, Kentucky 40502 in loving memory of Jerry Starlin Bays. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
