Obituary

Jim W. Pickard age 54, of Artemus, was born on October 8, 1958 in Barbourville. He was a son of the late John Lee Pickard and Helen Smith Pickard. Jim died Thursday, May 2, 2013 in the Knox County Hospital. He was a member of the Artemus Baptist Church. On October 8, 2009, he united in marriage to Sherrie Payne. He was a former employee of the Lay Tree and Brush Company for twenty-three years and worked for Walmart in Barbourville in the Stock Department for thirteen years. Jim
enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kentucky Wildcats and Nascar. He loved fishing, working in his yard and spending special time with his family. Along with his parents, John and Helen Pickard and brother-in-law, Billy Sewell preceded him in death.

Jim is survived by his dear wife, Sherrie Payne Pickard, of Artemus;
his daughter, Shana Lee Jones and husband,James of Girdler; his grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Jolie and Joseph; his step-childen; Kim Fox Maxwell and husband, Daniel and Roy Fox all of Lincoln Park, Michigan; his step-grandchildren; Shannon, Alyssa and Fay; his brothers; Knox County Sheriff, John Pickard and wife, Libby of Barbourville; Joe Pickard of Flat Lick; his sisters; Charlotte Sewell of Alexandra City, Alabama; Eloise Smith, Joyce Teague and husband,James, Barbara Teague and husband, Rev. Tommy Teague all of Barbourville;many dear and beloved nieces and nephews, a very special friend, Glenn Young and his loving dog companion, Angel.

Funeral Services for Jim W. Pickard will be conducted Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Broughton, Rev. Don Napier and Rev. Kennon Roark officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with, Randle Teague, Paul Hembree, Arnold Riley, Ellis Jones, Carl Payne, Bobby Payne, Earl Payne, Lonnie Payne, John D. Pickard and Brady Carnes serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: all Walmart Employees, Kenneth Lay, Jimmy Lee, and all friends and neighbors. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Saturday after 5:00pm. and Sunday after 10:00am until the funeral hour at 2:00pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
