Obituary

Jimmie Lou Marler Garland age 63, of Gray, Kentucky, was born on November 18, 1949 in Knox County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Charles Sewell Marler and Gurthel Lee Cox Marler. Jimmie Lou died Thursday, February 7, 2013 in the Saint Joseph Hospital of London. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. On December 1, 1972, she united in marriage to Rev. Garrett Garland and to this union two beloved daughters were born. Along with her parents, Jimmie Lou was preceded in death by; two sisters; Faye Rogers and Sewelline Peavley; a brother; Charles Willis Marler; sister-in-law; Carol Marler and brothers-in-law; Kenneth Rogers and Bob Peavley.

Jimmie Lou is survived by her beloved husband, Rev. Garrett Garland of Gray; daughters; Kristie Lee Bryant and husband, Richard of Barbourville; Beth Ann Lambert and husband, Michael of Barbourville; dear grandchildren; Taylor, Kirkland, Avery, Bailey and Max; sisters; Irene Cheek and husband, Don of Bailey Switch; Carol Farmer and husband, Johnny of Barbourville; Terrie Frederick and husband, Rev. Paul Frederick of Gray; brothers; Doug Marler and wife, Sue of Gray; Delton Marler and wife, Phoebie of Harlan, Kentucky and a special best friend; Paula Partin of Gray.

Funeral Services for Jimmie Lou Marler Garland will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tony Jackson and Rev. William R. "Mann" Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbell Cemetery at Gray, with Lynos Garland, Paul Garland, Harvey Garland,Calvin Eagle, Randall Campbell, Jerry Strong and Charles Maxie serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jimmie Lou's Church Family at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Saturday, 5:00 to 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am Sunday until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
