Joann Faye Gibson age 78, of Barbourville, was born on July 25, 1936
in Laurel County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Floyd
M. Chadwell and Oris J. Mullins Chadwell. Mrs. Gibson died Thursday
July 9, 2015 at her home. She was a member of Barbourville First
Baptist Church, was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Sarah Hughes WMU at the Barbourville First Baptist Church. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at Girdler Elementary School for thirty-three years. On May
4, 1957, she united in marriage to Clyde Edward Gibson, and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2005.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by her son: Dr. Keith Gibson and wife,
Dr. Susan Ballou of Corbin; Karen Hinkle and fiancée,Chuck Hill
of Barbourville; her dear grandchildren; Grant Gibson; Grace Gibson,
Kelsey Hinkle, Blake Hinkle and Faith Hinkle.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shane Nickell and Rev. Dennis Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery. Friends will be received after 11 am until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Gary Gibson, Greg Helton, Jim "Bo" Hall, David Greenwood, Tim Davis , Anthony Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be Knox County Board of Education employees, all retired Knox County Board of Education employees, Members of First Baptist Church, and members of Locust Grove Baptist Church, Friendship Sunday School Class, Sarah Hughes WMU Circle, Dr. Bobby Turner, Gail Centers, Dr. Benny Wilson, and Gary Helton.
