John Tye Jackson age 72, of Bailey Switch, was born there on November 26, 1940. He was a son of the late Robert H. Jackson and Sophia Sutton Jackson. Mr. Jackson died at his home, Friday, April 5, 2013. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Jackson was a former truck driver and auto-mechanic before retiring. He was a member and helped develop the Bailey Switch Fire Department. On August 27, 1960, he united in marriage to Ruth Shalloe. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Jackson; two sisters, Eula Faye Jackson and Mae Dale Patterson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Jackson of Bailey Switch; his dear children; Donnie Jackson and wife, Debbie of Covington, Kentucky; Robert Jackson of Bailey Switch; Darrell Jackson and wife, Vickie of Bimble; and Carol Jackson Gray of Heidrick; his nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his sister; Opal Scalf and husband, Claude of Barbourville; his brothers; Bobby Ray Jackson and wife, Cheryl and Elwood Jackson all of Bailey Switch; and Larry Wayne Jackson and wife, Shirley of Maryville, Tennessee.
Funeral Serivces for John Tye Jackson will be conducted Monday, April 8, 2013 at 2:00 pm, in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. James Bargo and Rev. Garrett Garland officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson Family Cemetery, with Andy Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Larry Wayne Jackson,
David Jackson, Carl Jackson, Allan Mills, Teddy Scalf, Elwood Jackson Jr. and Michael Lee serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Grandson, John Aaron Jackson, Grandson-in-law; Anthony Thomas; his church family at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church; Larkin Childers, Blaine Mills, Hershel Jordan, all members of the Bailey Switch Fire Department, all Doctors and Staff at the Commonwealth of Kentucky Cancer Center in London and all Hospice Staff. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Sunday after 6:00 p.m. and on Monday after 10:00 am, until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
