Lela Mayo Hobbs Gray, age 81, of London, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Tip and Otie Mae Warren Hobbs, born to them on July 3, 1936 in Flat Lick, KY.

Lela worked at Warnaco, and was a teachers aide. She was a member of Old Flat Lick Baptist Church, and later on she became a member of Union Mission Baptist Church where she served as Choir Director. She enjoyed watching WLJC, Cooking, and being with her grandchildren, and reading the Bible.

On December 18, 1951 she was united in marriage to Lewis Gray who preceded her in death.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters: Bonnie Hurddle, Juanita Mills, and Clara Hobbs Hensley; her granddaughter: Preshus Riggs; her grandson: Mark Anthony Gray; and by her son-in-law: Warren N. Scoville.

She is survived by three sons: Jerry M. Gray of Himyar; Gary Lynn Gray and Veronica Slusher of Flat Lick; and Lewis R. Gray of Flat Lick. Her three daughters: Nancy Riggs and husband, Dale of Boone Heights; Anna Grace Scoville of London; and Vickie Schaffer and husband, David of Staffordsville, KY; Her special brother: Ralph Hobbs and wife, Octavia of Belleview, KY: her two sisters: Carolyn Sue Hieronymus of McKee, KY; and Joan Carmack of Lawrenceburg, IN. Her fifteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Lela Mayo Hobbs Gray will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 21, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Frederick and Rev. David Barnard officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick with David Schaffer, Lewis Gray Jr., Gary Anthony Gray, Jason Gray, Jerry Gray, Larry Evans, Spencer Branham, Derek Gray and Brandon Gray serving as pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Tip Darrell Mills, Thomas Hensley, Lindburg Hobbs, Edward Hieronymus and Patrick Carmack.

The Gray family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2017 after 6:00 P.M. at Hopper Funeral Home, and after 9:00 A.M. on Thursday until the funeral hour of 2:00 P.M.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
