Obituary

Lou Ann Hopper de Rosset, age 47, passed away as a result of injuries from an automobile accident on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Dayton, Tennessee. She was the daughter of William "Bill"  and Louise  Parker Hopper, born to them on January 30, 1971 in Barbourville.

Lou Ann was Dean of Graduate Studies and an Assistant Professor at Union College, Barbourville, KY;  Doctoral Fellow and Intern at East Tennessee State University at Johnson City, TN; Assistant Professor at The University of Kentucky/LCC at Lexington, KY; Branch Manager/Site Director for the YMCA of Central Kentucky at Lexington, KY; a volunteer at Coalition for Kids; a volunteer at the local animal shelter; a volunteer as a child-care consultant; and she worked with the Present Diversity training workshops for students.  She was awarded the following;   The Doctoral Fellowship for Educational Research; LMU Salutatorian, The Merit Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement; Who's Who in Colleges and Universities; The Lincoln Award for prose and The Rushton Award for poetry.          She was a member of Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church in Knox County.  She attended First United Methodist Church of Barbourville.

On November 27, 2003, she was united in marriage to Edward de Rosset, and to this union a daughter, Chloe Rose, was born, December 22, 2005 in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Easom and Mandy Johnson Parker; her paternal grandparents, William Herman and Gladys Moore Hopper; her uncles, Roy Matlock, Rabb Matlock, Lee Parker, J.D. Parker, Ray Parker, Ben Parker and Billy Don Goodin; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Joyce de Rosset.

She is survived by her loving family; her husband of fourteen years, Edward de Rosset and her loving daughter Chloe Rose de Rosset of Dayton, Tennessee.  Also surviving are her parents, William "Bill" and Louise Hopper of Corbin;  her brother, Dwight Hopper and wife Sherry of Corbin; her nieces Ashley Hopper Cureton and husband Nicholas, Amanda Hopper and fiancée Ryan Blackburn of Corbin and Rachel Elizabeth de Rosset of Berea, Kentucky. Her aunt, Nancy Goodin of Bryants Store; her two sisters-in-law Karin Traylor and husband Jack of Dayton, Tennessee, and Rosalie de Rosset of Chicago, Illinois; her brother-in-law, Frederick de Rosset and wife Carol of Berea, Kentucky; a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends are left to mourn her passing.

Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Fred de Rosset, Jack Traylor, Buster Matlock, Larry McKeehan, Ryan Blackburn and Nicholas Cureton.

Funeral Services for Lou Ann Hopper de Rosset will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 9, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis McCoy, Dr. Jason Reeves, Rev. Ronnie Rose and Rev. Bill Hughes officiating.  Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.

The de Rosset family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, and after 9:00 A.M. on Friday and until the funeral hour.
