Barbourville, Ky. – Thelma Marie Fisher Walters , affectionately known as Marie, 84, passed away peacefully August 5, 2020.  Marie was the daughter of Matt and Fannie Baker Smith, of  Pineville,  joyfully born to them on September 5, 1935. Marie loved her family immensely. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and planning special activities and adventures to share with them. Marie loved photography and looking at the beautiful flowers in her yard. She also loved the Lord.

In addition to her parents, Matt Smith and Fannie (Baker) Smith, Marie was preceded in death by her first husband, and father of her children, Charles Fisher; by her second husband, Larry Walters; by two sons: Earl Fisher and Charles Fisher II and by one daughter, Pattie Lawson.

Left behind to mourn Marie's passing are her beloved children: daughters, Fannie Oma Fisher and Julie Abrams (Chris); and sons, Arthur Fisher and Danial Fisher (Kathy).  Marie also leaves behind a brother, Sonny Miller of Speedwell, Tn; a special daughter-in-law and friend, Carolyn Fisher O'Brien; daughter-in-law, Ester Fisher and her dear cousin Vantoy Shackleford of Tazewell, Tn.

Marie was blessed with twenty-three grandchildren: Tina Duncan (Bobby), Melissa Jacks, Goldie Fritts, Michelle Snider, Dee Anna Lay (David), Earl Jay Fisher, Rhonda Lawson Goins (Pete), Randy Tucker (Jessica), Danial Tucker (Stacie), David Hatfield, Mary Tillett (William), Arthur Fisher II,  Kevin Perry (Brandi), Jimmy Lawson, Wonda Virian, Faith Barr (John), Bonnie Palji, Charles Fisher III, Eric Walker, Kevin Walker, Jason Walker, Beth Kellem, and Billy Brish. A host of cherished great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren - the sixth generation – all are left behind to mourn "Miss Marie".

Marie's family wishes to express deep gratitude to Belinda Kay Chansler, who selflessly gave compassionate care and friendship to Marie, her beloved great grandmother. The entire family thanks you Belinda, "from the bottom of our hearts, and we love you".

Visitation for Thelma Marie Fisher Walters will be at the Hopper Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. The Reverend Jim Hagerman will officiate. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro Kentucky.  The Walters family have chosen as Pallbearers:  Randy Tucker, Dan Tucker, Kevin Perry, Teontae Rogers, Chris Fairlamb, Butch Fairland, Julie Abrams, and Joey Mills.  Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Abrams, Bobby Duncan, and Marshall "Bob" Reed.
