Mary Ruth Amis, age 86, of Lexington (formerly of Barbourville) passed away Friday March 2, 2018 at sayre Christian Village in Lexington. She was the Daughter of the late George Everette Vermillion and Marie Isabelle Bartolo Vermillion, born to them on July 15, 1931 in Barbourville.

Mary was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Barbourville.

On June 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charles Benjamin Amis who preceded her in death.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son: Michael Charles Amis and brothers: George, Benjamin and Clarence Vermillion.

She is survived by her daughters: Clara Herrell and husband Samuel of Lexington, Diane Thomas and husband Duane of Helena, Montana and Elizabeth K. Amis of Richmond, by grandchildren: Marcia Herrell Sadler, Karen Michelle Herrell, Mary Louise Roseberry, Samantha Roseberry, Lillian J. Smith, Ian Mykel Amis and Benjamin James Amis, by great grandchildren: Isabella, Anden, Charlotte, Carson and Jace. Plus several other dear relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Monday March 5, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Tyler Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Amis Cemetery at Flat Lick with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home after 11:00 A.M. Monday until the hour of service.
