Mary Surgner Cox Steger age 79, of Corbin, formerly of Knox County,
was born on November 30, 1936 in Bell County, Kentucky. She was
the daughter of the late Roy Surgner and Nannie McGeorge Surgner.
Mary died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Baptist Health in Corbin.
Mary was a homemaker and beloved mother. She united in marriage to
Sterling Cox and to this union four children were born. Later,
on July 5, 1985, she united in marriage to William Otha Steger.
She is survived by her husband, William Otha Steger of Corbin;
Her children; Teresa Collins, of Barbourville; Nanette Tye of Corbin, Kentucky; Mary Stacy Warfield Bright and husband, Danny of Tye Bend Rd.,Barbourville; her son; Robin Cox and wife, Cindy of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and Paula Raborn of Aiken, South Carolina;
Her beloved grandchildren; Darrell, Mark, Nick, Brandon, Derrick,
Jeremy, Joshua, Justin, Allen. Sarah Elizabeth and Jessica; great grandchildren; Ava, Christian, Darris, Austin, Victoria, Bryce, Mark, Kalin, Elisabeth and Kyra; great great grandchildren; Gabriella
and Rayne, and a sister-in-law; Nancy Jane Himes of Corbin, Kentucky.
Funeral Services for Mary Surgner Cox Steger will be conducted in
the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm
with Rev. Tommy Frazier and Michael Warren officiating. Burial will
follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with family members and friends
serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: all staff at
the Heritage in Corbin. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Saturday after 6:00 pm and Sunday after 10:00 am until
the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge
of all arrangements.
